The wheels, including the new centre set (the originals had been cut when the loco derailed at Barry Scrapyard)

It seems apparent that there is still a lot of work to do on this loco; although comparing the state it is in now with the rusting hulk that was at Tyseley in 2000 shows how much has already been achieved.

Sorry that there hasn't been any changes to this page for a couple of years - there has been little to report. However, there are a couple of upcoming open days at which three of the four preserved Jubilees will feature:

25 March 2006
Leander's tour to Bristol was diverted at short notice to Cardiff, due to clearance problems in the Cam & Dursley area. Coming back, the train was scheduled to be banked up the Lickey Incline by GWR No 4965 Rood Ashton Hall. Due to a problem with paperwork however, this loco was unable to leave Tyseley in the evening, despite having pulled the train to St. Andrew's Junction earlier in the day. From a standing start at Stoke Works Junction, Leander pulled the train (consisting of 6 coaches) up the 2 mile 1:37 bank without assistance, in a time of exactly 4 minutes. A remarkable run for a locomotive which is now 70 years old. Any photos of this climb would be greatly appreciated.
